this is the first quilt i have ever made .. at the time i was really happy w/the outcome ..
music, of course, is my passion and i do like hearts as well .. i thought the two would look nice together ..
so i named this one " For the Love of Music "

considering i'd never made one b4, i was pretty proud of myself and happy w/the outcome ...
... until ...
i washed it one day and when i took it out of the washing machine, all of the batting was all bunched up and the whole thing was really distorted ..
.. at the time, i didn't realize i had to actually quilt it !
.. i went by the book, word for word, and at the finish of it, it didn't say anything about actually quilting it .. so i thought i was done w/it .. and i had no idea that was what makes it a quilt ! ( nor did i know anything about mitered corners .. )
.. oh ya, and the whole thing was made with straight stitches alone ..
i'm such a dork .. all together now - say it w/me ...
after that last one, i was going to leave well enough alone and watch some football .. but, then i started looking at the others and thought, why not ?
.. so here's the latest sunbonnet sue i put together, enjoy it ..
.. not sure if i'll put anything more on this one .. chances are good i'll just leave it as is

thought i'd show a little update on how mystique's quilt is coming along ...
she's appliqued onto the fabric now .. i added some lace to the baby carriage and sewed the buttons/wheels on ..
i also stitched some X's down her back .. figured they might pass as buttons down her back
.. she just looked a little off balance to me w/out something on that side ..
... here's the angel sue .. i finally found her foot, so i didn't have to make another one woot !

these candles were such a pita .. i kept losing them, then the paper on the back would fall off ..

UPDATE:
it's about 6pm now & i went outside w/my omnigrid ruler ... and measured 22" and still snowing !! rofl
this snow is coming down right now with no end in sight. They're calling for at least 11" ..
.. i think heavy snow qualifies as something that only occurs during winter, don't you ?

so i saw this stand up comedian on tv last night ..
.. he starts talking about woolworth's & how they would sell pets, like turtles, birds ( nasty fucken things ), etc ...
i swear to god my mouth hit the floor ... when's the last time i heard of, or even thought of, woolworth's was ?? hahaha .. and then to remember they sold animals too ? hahaha

coupla weeks ago one of my brothers stayed w/us while he was home on leave ..

he and my nephew both stayed, was really nice having him here

think i handled it pretty well all things considered ... the kid's still walkin', so that oughta say something
there was this carnival thingy in town recently ..
they have helicopter rides, amusement rides, exhibitions, etc...
and they had this truck, waving a flag and covered w/white sheets .. and these sheets have writing all over 'em .. well, ends up it was a banner they were making for a local troop who were coming home from iraq that next day ..
kind of a welcome back thing i guess ..
it was pretty cool and a great gesture, here it is ..
... and of course, i had to sign it =)
went into joann's the other day ..
( that place to me is what menard's is to hubby .... neither one of us can get enough of them ! )
.. they were having some kinda sale on all kinds of sewing machines, sergers, etc., so thought i'd go have a look .. they had a Designer SE on sale and i had to at least go and look at it .. if only just to drool on it ..
long story short, i didn't walk out w/the $3k designer se, but instead, a $2k sapphire .. the sapphire's got features i really like and wasn't about to buy anything other then a husqvarna .. i looked at both pfaff & bernina, but i still trust and prefer the husqvarna name .. that and it never needs to be oiled, woo hoo !
i have a quilt in the works .. well, a few actually, but this is currently the one i'm focusing on lol .. here's what it's supposed to look like, from the book ...
the idea, according to this book was, to have multiple shades of blue ( or whatever color you choose ), in a totally random order .. no rhyme, reason, or design about them, just throw 'em in like they show there ..
ok, well i tried that .. and it ended up looking like total crap lol even hubby tried helping me set it up to look a little more, umm .. "decent", to no avail ..
so i said fuck it, and arranged them the way i wanted them, not this random crap the book was suggesting ..
i ended up doing sort of a pinwheel design, but at the same time it looks like bow ties too .. not intentionally, but oh well ..
anywho, here it is so far .. as it lays on my sewing room floor cuz my block butler hasn't arrived yet =(
i'm not keeping this one either .. this one i made w/my aunt in mind .. she likes that whole country crafty deco crap .. she's got this blue white silverish theme goin' on all through out her house .. this will fit perfectly
that and she deserves it .. she did me a really big favor once and ever since then, i've wanted to return the favor .. so, hopefully this will do the trick

i just bought this book off ebay the other day, but have yet to receive it ..can anyone tell me, is this a good book for beginners, like myself ?

Here's a pic of a quilt I made some years ago. They're hearts with music in them on a diamond pattern. I love hearts and music is my passion, so this of course is my favorite.
